..::DaMiEn RiCe::..

It has been two years since I fell in love with him and his songs.First I listened one song which my friend suggested.It was The Blower's Daughter which is also the soundtrack of the film "Closer".It was such a good one that I listened it nearly 30 times again and again..Then,I found his all songs.From then on I have a tense relationship with his songs.I want to share some information about him.
He was born in Ireleand on 7th December of 1973.He's made 4 albums ; O , B-sides , Live at Union Chapel , 9 .The Blower's Daughter is his best-known song in which Rice tells his love about his instrument teacher's daughter.Recently I often listen Amie, a song dedicated to his darling committed suicide.The lyrics of the song are very tender,for example saying "I saw a spaceship fly by your window,did you see it disappear?".In an other song he suffers from his darling's marriage saying ;
"Cheers darlin' Here's to you and your lover boy.Cheers darlin' I got years to wait around for you.Cheers darlin' I've got your wedding bells in my ear...What am I darlin'?A whisper in your ear?A piece of your cake?What am I, darlin?The boy you can fear?Or your biggest mistake?..."
His voice makes me peaceful and also melancholic.He uses different kinds of instruments in his songs such as piano,cello,violin,violoncello.With this aspect,sometimes I assimilate him to Teoman.He is also my favorite in Turkey.
I am really looking forward to watching him in Turkey.I hope one day...

I want to tell you about my English teacher -Yalçın Ceylani- in 'Marmara Büyük Dersane'.I've known him since 2006.In everyweekend and one day on weekdays we are together with him.I account myself lucky for being his student.I will tell him with using the adjectives above.

-He is the Yummiest Man I know :) If he is not working on important things,he always makes you smile with jokes.If he sees you unhappy,comes close to you and tries to change your mood.

-He is Adorable.Not only I say this,but all of his students.I know noone who don't like him.I always used to try sitting front desks,but it was not possible generally.

-He is Lenient.He always wants you to be happy.He believes that if someone feel himself bad,he can not learn anything.If he sees any of us sulking,he allows us to go out and take some breath,drink something and solve our problem.

-He is so congenial that he behaves us as a child of him.Any time we could go near him and talk about anything.

-He is one of the most Intellectual Man I know.He has full of knowledge of English,Turkish and American Literature.While we were at the beginning of the class,he used to write a novel name and suggest it to us.Or,he used to write a name of a novel or author and then ask us about him/her.I learned lots of things from him.

-Being Noted is one of the outstanding features of him.When you tell someone 'I began this year Marmara' he/she tells you about Yalcın Bey mentioning his being culture and education attaché in America.

-I think,it is not necessary He is clever of course he is very clever =) But never says I know everything on the contrary he says I do not know everything =)

-Emotional...Yes he is :) You can see emotion in his eyes and hear from his words...

-He is old in age but young in life.With his curly and curly hair he is like a jazz soloist =) And of course with his fashionable braces =)

-With His Logical ideas,many times I have decided truely.There would be always good and logical ideas in his mind.Whenever I had a problem he showed me the proper way..

-He is so ardent that throughout long years he's never given up his dear job -teaching-.He loves teaching hearty.Always he wants to give his students new things.

-Notable! :) I've mentioned his curliest hair and braces:) He is also discirminating with his clothing and fashion.

-An International Man in Tekirdağ...He worked in U.S.A. as a attaché for 5 years.He lived and worked there as teacher.He learned American culture very well and always told us as footnotes...

...Thank You My Dear Teacher...You edified me...You made us remember to be a human...

Yesterday was Teachers' Day and I miss you very much.Hope to see you in holiday next week!

"CuMaLıKıZıK"

It was the beginning of last summer that I first saw such a beautiful village near a metropol.I mention Cumalıkızık,Bursa.I've lived in Bursa when I was 3-5 years old but first saw this place.We went there with my closest friend Ceren who was born and lived there.Until I went there,I didn't hear anything about Cumalıkızık.Just it is where the tv movie -KınalıKar- was rejected.Anyway,we went the central of Bursa to get on to the bus.With bus,it takes 40 minutes or so.We got off the bus and found ourselves in an open bazaar.There was lots of marmelade citrus fruits,walnut,raspberry,mulberry and gift sellers around.We learned later that raspberry is peculiar to Cumalıkızık and also every year there is a raspberry festival.The village is one of the five Kızık Villages founded on aproaches of Uludağ.According to the rumours about its name; Osman Bey found the village on Friday so its name is Cumalıkızık.Another rumour is that the people from other villages used to come here for Friday prayer so its name became Cumalıkızık.The village was found in 1300s as an Ottoman village.And still now,it is a historical Ottoman village with well saved historical heritage.Famous Cumalıkızık Houses are made of rubble,wood and mud-brick.Houses have window bays.They are very colourful as blue,purple,yellow,orange,white,brown.Between houses,there are very narrow stone-made streets.These streets are pitched so that in spring the melting snow waters could flow down.
People are very warm-blooded and hospitable.Some of them have converted their houses' entrance floor to a 'Gözleme' eating house.They make everything by hand.You can eat a delicious gözleme with hand-made rapsberry juice.For accomodation there are some pensions which are also Cumalıkızık Houses.I certainly reccomend you to come here,it will refresh you.. ;)

CHARLES CHAPLIN :)

In 1911 a penniless young music-hall artist left England for America.His future was uncertain,but he did not believe it could be unhappier than past.He had grown up in the slums of London's East End and had experienced great poverty.His mother's life had been so hard that she had finally gone ,and his father had died of drink.Both parents parents had been on the stage and lived in the hope that they would be stars one day.Their son was determined to succeed where they had failed.By 1914 his optimism and determination had been justified.Charles Chaplin was the most talked-about man in America,as the king of silent movies.He was not only admired as a first-class actor and comedian,he was also making his name as a director.This was not an instant success.His attempts to copy other slapstick comedians who were popular at that time were a failure.However he gradually began to develop the character of the tramp that will always be connected with his name.He borrowed ideas from many sources and though he stole most of his clothes from other slapstick comedians of the time,he developed his own special mannerisms to go with them.He used his bowler hat to signal secret messages and his walking stick allowed him to cause confusion and punish his enemy from a distance.He got the idea for his famous flat-footed walk from a London taxi driver who had sore feet.

SLOW CITY

After Slow Food flood,in Europe,a new urban politics is spreading rapidly.People who are bored with stressful,boring and artificial daily life have launched this movement.Considering the success of the Slow Food Movement against Fast Food,a new approach is developed : Slow Cities...
As easily one can guess,the movement first implemented in Italy.People who support the project helped closing McDonald's and supermarkets and also blocked the streets to traffic.There are now 42 cities in Italy which have changed so far.The movement spread to Asia as well as England,Spain,Norway,Portugal,Austria.
The Tough Rules Of Slow Cities :
-
Prevent the traffic and noise pollution.
-Raise green areas and pedestrian lanes.
-Support farmers who do local production.
-Support the shops which sell local products.
-Save the aesthetic elements.
And there are more 45 rules besides these.
Cities named as a slow city has snail emblem.In order to have this emblem,cities are to be inspected by inspectors.
Finally I want to share the sentences of Bruna Sibille ( mayor of a slow city in Italy ) :
"Let's clarify that point: Being a slow city doesn't mean stopping the time.We do not want live in museums.The only thing we want is between contemporary and conventional,a balance which supports quality life."

Description Photo // Door to Liberty

I want to share with you this photo which I saw yesterday on my gatged of National Geographic.This photo influenced me a lot.I think it has a deep meaning.In my opinion,this is a door to liberty,from darkness to light.But it is a deeper meaning also : this a liberty to which is been late...I'm saying this because there is some grass grown up around the door.And also it is sunset time meaning being late again..In front of the door there are weeds.And this means,after liberty there is not easiness and comfort.Still there must be a war for a real survival and deliverance.In the horizon,away, I see a bracket which is indistinct.This can be a goal in life.To survive people have to struggle as it is in this picture.

Description photo // Saying Good Bye...

I took this photo on Friday,when I was in Tekirdağ.That day was so warm that people went to seaside with their t-shirts.I met with my friends and went our favorite cafe near beach.It was my departion day from Tekirdağ.I felt very sorry for leaving this atmosphere in such a good day.I sat agains the sun and mused.The sun was going and me too...It was sad and me too...It was waving to city and me too...We both said goodbye...After sunset,darkness came and same after I'd come,darkness days again began.You can see also a lamp in front.It means my life in Ankara..Just artificial...It throws out light just artificially not real,and Ankara does the same.However big it is,this doesn't concern me anymore.Yes I like my school but this cannot change my thoughts..I feel myself as the alone tree in picture...But it is much luckier than me.As it is near this wonderful sea...

Phokaia...
With its known name Foça...
I want to begin telling Foça with Heredotos' sentences ;
"They erected their city under the best sky and climate which we knew on Earth.."
You can think Heredotos said these words centuries ago,it may have been changed through years.But Foça lovers and I can say that he is true.
I first went to Foça in 1996 and then after 10 years 2006.And I hope to live there until 2016 :)
Some of my friends asked me why I like there so much,until this Wednesday I used to say I don't know.But Wednesday I learned something which is really surprised me.It is a myth told about Foça Addiction : Karatas Myth..According to myth there is a stone in Foça which is not known where it is or what it looks like,and anyone who pass over it,feels bound to there,and anyday of her/his life comes here.After I finished reading I understood 'yes I did it,I stepped the stone :) '. So I will go and live there.
Why I think so?Because I just want to live a peaceful and easy life.After graduation, I am planning to work hard just to save some money for my new life.And after I've moved Foça,I can work as a teacher or guide.But after this mean job,I will go and work in my fish restaurant (which I planned to set up)..If I have much more money I want to set up a tourist house...

Falling in Love with a song...

This is not the first...It happens to me often.I hear a song and shock..What a wonderful melody!And then I search for the name and singer of the song.Anyway,yesterday night,my roommate was listening music quietly.She listened the same song again and again.At the end I asked her which song she was listening.She answered me it's Yann Tiersen's song.I didn't hear the name before.I said allright,it sounds good.After 10 seconds or so she said Ezgi,come and watch this video.I sat her chair and began to watch.It was that song.."Monochrome" by Yann Tiersen.Firstly I didn't understand what was going on.There was a young man sitting in kitchen(I'm not sure) and then he stood up and went to the tap.He tried to synchronize the pour of the water.Again he sat down to chair and opened the fridge's door which is next to him.When Yann Tiersen began singing the song,the young man turned on the TV which had a reflector to the wall.And lyrics began on the wall..The video went on like this.At the end a young woman came to the kitchen and just looked at him in wonder..
I said myroommate it was wonderful video..She said yes,I discovered this with film Amelie.I searched the other songs of him and listened.I really liked him :) I suggest you if you like Bob Dylan,Damien Rice or someone like them..
